Learn how to integrate the Transmission Pack into your Citizens of the Spark games. This guide covers setup, solo play, and common mistakes to avoid.

Quick answer

The Transmission Pack adds 30 new citizen cards and 3 new citizen types to Citizens of the Spark. Shuffle the included randomizer cards into the base game deck, and you're ready to play.

What the Transmission Pack adds

The Transmission Pack introduces three new citizen types with 30 cards total. Each type brings fresh abilities that can shift your strategy during a game. The pack also includes three solo-play Scyntilla cards, so solo players can enjoy the new content without extra rules.

If you already own the base game, this mini-expansion is a straightforward add-on. You don't need to learn new mechanics or adjust the core gameplay loop—just shuffle and go.

Solo play considerations

The pack includes three Scyntilla cards specifically for solo mode. These cards allow the solo opponent to use the new citizen types, keeping the challenge balanced. Just shuffle the three randomizer cards with the 30 randomizer cards from the base game, and you're set.

One limitation: the pack does not include additional tokens or boards. If you play solo, you'll need the base game components for tracking scores and resources.

How to set up and play with the Transmission Pack

  1. Shuffle the randomizer cards: Take the 3 randomizer cards from the Transmission Pack and shuffle them together with the 30 randomizer cards from the base game. This creates a combined deck for citizen selection. Don't separate the randomizer cards by type—mixing them ensures a balanced variety of citizens each game.
  2. Prepare the citizen cards: Sort the 30 new citizen cards by type and place them in the game box using the included dividers. During setup, draw from the combined randomizer deck to determine which citizen types appear. If you play without the dividers, you may accidentally mix new and base citizen cards—keep them separated for easy access.
  3. Set up solo play (if applicable): Shuffle the 3 Scyntilla cards into the solo opponent deck from the base game. Use the standard solo rules, but now the solo opponent can also use the new citizen abilities. Verify that the solo opponent's starting resources match the base game rules—the pack doesn't change those values.
  4. Play your first game: Proceed with the normal game rules. When a new citizen type is drawn from the randomizer deck, refer to the card's text for its unique effect. The new types work exactly like the base citizens but with different abilities. If a new citizen type seems unclear, compare it to a similar base citizen—the effect structure is the same, only the outcome changes.
